I read somewhere recently that Americans, on average, pay the highest price in the world for television service. And based on my moderate travel in the last several years, we don't get the best service in the world. So it's no surprise people are getting fed up.
You're right, both cable and satellite are expensive, and they keep getting higher. The only thing that keeps me addicted to a pay service (and I'm lumping cable & satellite together here) is live college sports. With an antenna and online options, I can get just about everything else I watch. If/when ESPN or another provider start offering their programming ala carte, I'll cut the cord completely.
